Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in the Department of Medical Education to provide vison, leadership and strategic direction for the Department including Faculty and Staff as well as Students in the areas of engagement, diversity, inclusion (including student advocacy), mentoring and advising. In addition, this position will oversee student activities and special events, leadership development and clubs/organizations within the Office of Student Affairs. This position will work with various departmental resources throughout the GCSOM campus, including the Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion on diversity and inclusion matters and will coordinate student diversity initiatives, the development of unique programs and communication strategies to promote cultural competency and inclusion. The candidate should display strong skills in communication, working with various constituent groups; student support; referral and advocacy; program development; and technology applications.
Enhance and develop programming and support services to promote diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and student leadership, including but not limited to mentoring, study resources and career advising.
Promote a positive learning environment for all students by assessing the culture of diversity and inclusion throughout all campuses.
Lead Professional Identity Formation cultural competency sessions throughout the four-year curriculum including curriculum design, mapping and implementation.
Provide guidance to student groups and organizations that support a diverse student population.
Develop a peer and faculty mentoring program to support diverse students.
Provide oversight and resource allocation of student affairs diversity and inclusion operating budget.
Represent Student Affairs Diversity and Inclusion programming to the broader institution including admissions interview days and related college initiatives. Other educational duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chair of The Department of Medical Education.

A terminal degree (Ph.D. or MD).
Track record or potential for scholarship in area of expertise.
1-3 years of experience in higher education or medical education.
Related diversity/student affairs and academic experience in a university or medical school setting is required.
An understanding of the value of student activities and of the motivations of students who participate in them.
An understanding of and the ability to apply student development and learning outcomes theories.
The ability to sustain communication with diverse groups, anticipate problems, reconcile conflicts, and maintain a strong philosophical base for student affairs.
Experience in student programming and in advising student groups.
Expertise in training and leadership development is desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge of diversity and inclusion support services in a university or medical school setting.
Related student affairs, career and academic experience in a university or medical school setting
Doctoral Degree- (Required), Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine- (Required)
