The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS is seeking a full-time Physician (Deputy Chief of Staff for Primary Care - Community- Based Outpatient Clinics). This is an open-continuous announcement and will remain open until September 30, 2021, or until the position is filled (if a selection is made and offer accepted, announcement will be closed). Major Duties and Responsibilities ~ Provide oversight of operations of the seven (7) Community-Based Outpatient Clinics located throughout Mississippi. ~ Participate in the medical, administrative, and management functions of Primary Care Service (CBOC) clinical program. ~ Direct clinical quality assurance, risk management, and peer review activities. ~ Participate in medical staff meetings as required. ~ Demonstrate knowledge of performance measures, data metrics, i.e. Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), etc., and sources of data metrics related to Primary Care. ~ Participate in executive sessions with officials of external agencies to discuss subjects, i.e., performance improvement of clinical measures, etc. ~ Participate and/or conducts monthly strategic meetings involving Primary Care Service executive staff. ~ Direct the Clinical Services work through subordinate supervisors, where applicable. ~ Collaborate with other service chiefs. ~ Provide comprehensive medical care to Veterans, the nature of the cases may range from minor illnesses to those of a very serious nature. ~ Examine patients, makes diagnoses, and administers appropriate treatment. ~Order laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures necessary to complete medical facts on the case. ~ Review, develop, update, and maintain Primary Care clinical policies and service agreements based on the applicable facility directives as assigned. ~ Handle Veteran concerns related to clinical matters that are received in-person, telephonically, or through VA Congressional partners. ~ Determine information requirements, procedures/policies to improve customer service responsiveness/efficiency the PC clinical operations. ~ Keep Associate Chief of Staff apprised on the development and integration of specific strategies and outcomes regarding Veteran Centered Care improvements. ~ Other duties as assigned.
