You are invited to join our team at the in Chillicothe where our mission is to honor America’s Veterans by providing exceptional and personalized care that improves their health and well-being. As a key member of the team, you will join two other cardiologists in a 30-physician group, along with a full support staff. The workweek is typically 5 days per week, but a compressed work week may available where you can work 4 10-hour days and there is no call!
Other details include:
10-14 patients per day
90% Outpatient / 10% Inpatient
Duties include Holter and event monitoring, stress testing, and managing inpatient cardiac cases.
Laid-back, collaborative group
US citizen (Non-citizens may be considered if no US citizen is recruited)
US License (any state) with no history of suspension or revocation
BC or BE in Cardiology
The Chillicothe VAMC is fully accredited by The Joint Commission as well as the College of American Pathologists (Laboratory) and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (Vocational Rehabilitation Program) and provides acute and chronic mental health services, primary and secondary medical services, a wide range of nursing home care services, specialty medical services as well as specialized women Veterans health clinics. The facility is an active ambulatory care setting and serves as a chronic mental health referral center for VA Medical Centers in southern Ohio and parts of West Virginia and Kentucky.
On site primary care services are available in our four Primary Care Teams. Other outpatient services include medical/surgical specialty clinics, and a wide range of mental health services such as Dual Diagnosis, PTSD Clinical Team, and an OEF/OIF/OND Clinic. An active community based program includes Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), Care Coordination, Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM), Community Living Center and a Community Residential Care Program. The Chillicothe VAMC operates six Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Athens, Cambridge, Lancaster, Marietta, Portsmouth, and Wilmington, Ohio.
Ross County and Chillicothe is a premier southern Ohio destination of historical sites, great outdoors and hospitality. Situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Region of America, Ross County offers outdoor enthusiasts 5 State Parks, 1 National Park and over 120 miles of trails to explore. Our historical sites will take you through time from over 2,000 years ago with the pre-historic cultures that created magnificent, ancient earthworks to the founding of Chillicothe and life in the 19th century.

Federal Retirement Plan:
VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
How is the pension funded? VA employees hired after January 1, 2014 automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 8.3% of the employee's salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 12.7% of the employee's salary
Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service. For calendar year 2016, employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $18,000, while those over age 50 are eligible to make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $24,000
The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years' service
