The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center located in Augusta, GA is seeking well-rounded BE/BC Orthopedic Surgeon to join their dynamic healthcare team as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery. The Chief will lead a group of 5 surgeons, 3 PAs and orthopedic residents. All candidates must have completed ACGME residency and are Board Certified or Board Eligible.
The Chief manages all aspects of orthopedic service including monitoring and improving service with regards to access, efficiency, productivity and patient satisfaction. The Chief will be primarily responsible for oversight of the Orthopedic Section, Surgical Service, and is expected to provide leadership both clinically and administratively.
Duties for this position will include direct patient care, performance of surgery, quality improvement initiative and supervision of physician assistants, fellows, residents, medical students and office personnel. Citizenship: U.S Citizenship is required (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
English Language Proficiency: Applicants appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English.
